Rules Are Meant To Be Broken

Sometimes I think photography is an ART. It is something complicated and diffiicult to explain. When you read books regarding photography, you will find thousands of rules and guides to make you a better photographer or a PRO........

But there is one question yet to be answered. Do PROs always follow the rules to produce QUALITY and MONEY MAKING photos? I personally don't think so. Because they are already PROs so called, even if they shoot blurred photos or CRAP shots, people will still admired them and their work. They will say, " It' an ART". WHY? Because they are PRO.

But if I were to do that.........everybody will tell me my shots SUCKS...........because I'm NOBODY. right?

All sorts of comments such as:
Your shots are underexposed..........
You don't follow the rule of third..............
Your shots are under............
Too contrast...........
You should avoid backlighting.............
Your shots are OOF (out of focus).......
Not enough light............
You should bounced your flash.............
Bla.....bla....bla......

Yeah.........I admit that rules are rules..........To be good or better you should stick to the rules..........RIGHT. I don't deny it.

But must I stick to those DAMN rules to get a great shot?

To me, it's an ART.....................to you my shots are CRAP!!!!!
But to others,..............they may be as good as the PROs...................
So to me is something UNIVERSAL....................

I took PHOTOGRAPHY because the pureness of itself..............I enjoy every minute of it. I don't mind spending thousands of ringgit on it.Because I have the KICK of every photos that I snap. Each photo has it's own special characteristic..................and I adore every one of it. Even if it's OOF or totally blur..........but to me it's something for me to remember.................

I took PHOTOGRAPHY as my hobby not to gain MONEY from it................it is totally for PLEASURE and Self satisfaction....................

But I just can't UNDERSTAND when someone who claim he/she who acts as PRO photographer and took photography for an earning and yet shoot not so PRO but tells others that they shoot CRAPS............

You just don't hoot unless it's for MONEY..............guess you are really a PRO then............

Because I shoot for the pleasure of it...................

I read books on photography and I surf the internet for guides and tips on better photography............for my knowledge but I don't have to follow every things I read.

Sometimes I shoot with my heart or instinct. And it feels GREAT.

And I love to share my ART.......................if you think my SHOTS are CRAPS............move along..........I don't need you to tell me that cause I too can say FREELY that your SHOTS are CRAPS too.

A portrait is not a likeness. The moment an emotion or fact is transformed into a photograph it is no longer a fact but an opinion. There is no such thing as inaccuracy in a photograph. All photographs are accurate. None of them is the truth.
Richard Avedon Quotes - Photographers

If a day goes by without my doing something related to photography, it's as though I've neglected something essential to my existence, as though I had forgotten to wake up.-Richard Avedon Quote

"If you're photographing in color you show the color of their clothes - if you use black and white, you will show the color of their soul."

"Buying a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon owner."

"One photo out of focus is a mistake, ten photo out of focus are an experimentation, one hundred photo out of focus are a style."

The virtue of the camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking. Brooks Atkinson

It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in PHOTOGRAPHY everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary. David Bailey

It is not altogether wrong to say that there is no such thing as a bad photograph -- only less interesting, less relevant, less mysterious ones. Susan Sontag

Of course, there will always be those who look only at technicque, who ask "how," while others of a more curious nature will ask "why." Personally, I have always preferred inspiration to information.
-Man Ray

great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed.-Ansel Adams

You learn to see by practice. It's just like playing tennis, you get better the more you play. The more you look around at things, the more you see. The more you photograph, the more you realize what can be photographed and what can't be photographed. You just have to keep doing it.-Eliot Porter

A mad, keen photographer needs to get out into the world and work and make mistakes.
-Sam Abell
